I have 2 filters on my 150g, both have sponges on the filter inlets. I have a lot of Java Moss growing on both sponges. My question is, is this good or bad for the moss, (the filters are fine), and should I encourage it to continue to grow there or pick it off before it gets out of hand?

For the moss it is great, they are growing on a bed of nutrients. I would only be worried about if it affects filter flow.

Java moss will do great inside a filter. I have a ac 70 that is full of it. It started out with just a few little pieces and grow like a weed. When ever I clean the filter I just scrap the most of it so it doesn't begin to clog the filter. How ever it starts growing right on the bio ceramics and is kinda tough getting off of that. As long as it does not clog your filter and you don't mind it being there then its not going to hurt any thing.
