The java moss in my 30gal quarantine tank keeps finding its way onto the intake of my aquaclear intake, courtesy of the catfish in the tank. So I got one of those holey plastic snap clams that blueberries and other fruits come in, cleaned it with vinegar and stuffed the moss in there. It sits on the gravel and looks healthy so far. I'm wondering if this can be a long-term solution if I trim it as it grows out of the holes. Will it eventually impact and die? Has anybody else done this? Predictions?

You should be fine... it's basically the same as when you put moss on a flat rock with mesh over it. It will still stay healthy and have better shape/be more organized. So your answer is yes, it can be long term.
