I recently placed healthy green Java Moss in my aquarium. However, after a few weeks, it began to lose its vibrant color. Now, it appears that only the skeletal remains of the plant are left, with most of the green foliage seemingly gone.

Interestingly, all other aquatic plants in the tank are thriving. I regularly add liquid plant nutrients, and the presence of significant algae growth indicates there is an adequate amount of nitrate in the water. Despite this, I am puzzled as to why only the Java Moss is deteriorating.

One factor that concerns me is the large population of cherry shrimps in the tank. I wonder whether they might be feeding on or damaging the Java Moss.

If anyone has had a similar experience or can offer insight, I would greatly appreciate your input.

I know for sure Java fern are a heavy feeder so possibly the Java moss as well. I suggest dose a little more plants food hopefully that helps.

I won'e guess what the problem might be; I'm about the last person on earth to give advice on how to keep and grow plants. :)

I'll just mention that the Cherry Shrimp are definitely not causing any problems for the moss. Shrimp, if anything, keep the moss clean and "groomed"; Java Moss is one of those rare plants that I can actually grow, and it always looks better in a tank that is well-populated with shrimp. Hopefully someone can figure out what the actual problem is. :)
