So I have my drift wood anchored to the bottom of the tank using these suction cups with collapsible hooks on them. I want to hide these so I can complete the natural look of the tank.

The idea was to wrap them in java moss, I thought if I wrapped them it could with stand the current. It took about 30 minutes and about 100000000 replacements but I finally got it to stay. The flow is strong enough across the whole tank bottom that the poor moss is holding on for dear life, looks like those streamers they tie to fans.

Once I thought I was done my freaking texas would grab the freaking moss drag it half way across the tank and then spit it out. I know he is doing this just to spite me.

I expected cichlids to eat plants but I thought maybe the moss would be safe, and he is not even eating it just moving it; like it was in his way or something.

So do you mean that your driftwood isn't staying on the bottom. Have you tried boiling it or soaking it until it sinks? How big is this piece of wood? Maybe it's just me but I think java moss is ugly and having it blow like with a fan just make is look worse, like long strings of algae. Maybe someone else on this site can give you advice on how to sink or hold down your wood because I was lucky and never had any problems sinking driftwood, The Doctor.

i would have to guess the reason he has them suction cupped down is the flow is too strong and pushing the wood?
I would say maybe try siliconing some larger rocks to the wood somewhere to keep it grounded better. Or depending on the size of the tank and wood (3000gph so must be a larger tank? 400?) wedging the wood to the glass and bottom panel. Its how i ended up sinking a piece of manzanita wood.

The wood wont stay submerged and is way to big to boil. But I like it suctioned down because it stays in place about 1" off the bottom; this prevents gunk from getting caught in the wood.

Tank is 7'x2'x2'

I finally just basically wrapped the moss around it as tight as I could. I then let the fish pull off all the loss moss, and then pulled it out and throw it in the filter. I personally don't mind the moss as long as its tamed; the one piece of wood was in my tank for about a year and never sank.

dont feel bad I cant even have plants of any kind, my clown loaches insist that im hiding treats under them

I really want some swords but I fear that my O will eat them. When I had to bug bomb my house I tossed all my pothos in the tank. When I finally went to unseal the tank 5 hours later the O was still eating my plants and had ate a 1/4 of them.
