Java moss...

I've seen some people cover their entire tank bottom with java moss and it looks amazing!

Does it have to root in gravel/sand? Or is there anyway to keep it on a bare bottom tank?

If not, whats the least amount of gravel I could have for this to successfully root enough to cover entire tank base?

this is my question tooo. i got java moss and it is taking a while attaching to things. ive jammed it in rocks and it hasnt attached after a week. lol
