Hi MFk, Im wondering if it would be possible to have a pair of Jds in a 120g with a Pair of Festae? Or would they kill eachother.. I would add bunch of small dithers.. I already have the JD pair and they breed in my community with a con, ATO 10", 2 Jags 3" and 7". No problems there quit peaceful to other fish, only recently she beat him up after she layed eggs. I don't know why but the last two times she layed eggs i don't think he fert the eggs they all died...

Short term possibly, but long term probably not. Dempseys arent in the same league as festae aggression wise.

Do you already have the festae pair? If not, you should know they dont pair up very easily and even if they do, it's not unusual for the male to kill the female(if she doesnt kill him first).

Jd's are like a decent college team and festae are like the NFC champs when breeding........

prob not a 120 isnt that big compared to the size the festaes get it would even be hard to keep a full grown male and female festae together without them attacking each other ...

How about the two pairs in a 300 :) ?

Obviously the bigger the tank the better your chances, but I'm still inclined to think the festae will eventually claim it all as well. But that's the thing about cichlids. you just dont know till you try. I have singles in my 300. Jd, Midas, Freddy and a festae. i think my chances are about 50/50 this working long term......
