Both fish are small JD 2" and the O 3"
tank is 112 gal lots of driftwood and rocks
My problem is the JD backs the O into a corner and wont let him leave
They dont fight, it just if the O goes anywhere else in the tank the JD will chase him back into the same corner. He wont even let him eat.
Any sugestions??

My guess is that because the Oscar will be bigger than the Jack Dempsey in a few months this is only temporarily a problem. May I suggest some dithers (perhaps some small silver dollars or some danios).

I hope so, I have 5 silver dollers in the tank with them and 1 severum.
Everyone else is fine just the JD and O

Sounds like the JD has claimed the whole tank as its turf and only views the O as a threat. Try rearranging the tank to break up territories and add a few more sight breaks. Or if you can do this and remove the JD for a week or so and then reintroduce it back into the rearranged tank after the O can claim some turf.

I have a 30 gal that is currently empty maybe I'll try that and put the JD in there for a little while,
Thanks

well, I think you have a "understocking" problem ;) This happens a lot when you only have two fish in the tank - one dominant, one dominated. One solution is to add some target fish to distract the JD.

also had 5 Rainbows, but someone has been taking them out one by one only 1 male left
