I think my JD and my oscar have paired up and now the JD has dug a huge pit on one side of the tank and constantly hovers it. Is this breeding behavior?

How do you tell if you have a male or female oscar?

I've seen Oscars crossed with the red and green terrors, and I read a thread on some forum (maybe the oscar spot?) about a guy who said he crossed his with an acara (won't believe till I see proof though), but never a JD.

I would put my money on too genetically different for successful spawning, but they may pair up and "go through the motions".

I've already inspected the oscars vent im pretty sure shes a female, not 100% sure though.
oh not yours I mean my Oscar. How do I tell if I have a male or female?

also from what i read its almost impossable to 100% tell the diff from male ad female oscars till they pair off

I've heard of diff. species spawning. Usually two females that just lay unfertilized eggs. An O and JD seems inpossible, but hybrids have to come from somewhere.....
