Lately my 7 inch JD has been showing huge amounts of aggression towards my vieja synspilium, and my ? is, can alot of aggression amongst 2 fish in a community create enough stress for the rest of the fish to cause a fin rot issues? Or is it even possible fin rot can be caused by stress due to aggression issues alone?

Drama between 2 fish wont stress the tank. It would give them less stress because no aggression is towards them.

But the 2 fish fighting would be in stressed.

Dont kno why youre concerned about fin rot specifically though.

U can keep them together but you gotta have ranks and they know their ranks in the tank.

Sounds like The JD is stepping out of line. But I think he'll whoop the syn soon

125 gal, using 2 emperor 400 HOBs and an FX5 , 50% weekly WC so everything is great with water that is why I think it may be a stress thing going on. The JD is about 8 inches and the Vieja synspilium is about 10 inches. The JD backs him in the corner and just dont let up. It is not them that the fin rot is affecting, just a few of my other fish slightly.
What size tank, and how big are they? This will make difference because stress and water quality are the causes of fin rot.

Theres a lot of angst in your set-up... Two males fighting and getting stressed and what happens... disease spreads and you loose most of the fish. What the JD needs his own tank or with fish it doesn't see as a threat. I have a EBJD male sharing with a male Firemouth. not stress - both living peacefully together.

I have a 10" male Synspilum sharing with convicts and Red Devils... Everything seems happily balanced.
