Jd andGt in 55?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would choose one or the other. And also consider that it might be harder for them to turn around in a 12" wide tank at full size (If you get males), especially with decor/wood/rocks etc...in there too

Have you considered a 75? They'd be good to go in there IMO

Good luck :D

neither of these speices live's up to there names in aggresion so i think you could easily keep htose 2 together in a 55, i also find that both males max out at 10"ish- Jd's are bigger up to 12", GT's 8-10".

ive seen a GT bigger than 10"

and yes i think you could do that in a 55

I had a 10" Jag and a 6" butti in a 55 and they got along to a point. The butti always wanted to fight but lost! Provide enough hiding spaces and they should be ok.

I don't want to get off topic and I also don't want to advocate keeping fish in harsh conditions but to a 12 inch fish a 12.5 inch tank width is not a tight squeeze at all seeing as how a couple of inches is tail and their bodies aren't ridgid. I'm just tired of people saying that a 12 inch fish can't turn around in a 12.5 tank.

Anyway, I think that you will just have to see if the two fish fight and if they don't then your good to go, Good Luck

I think they will be fine in there together IMO. Should be nice, just provide two seperate territories for them on opposite ends and I think that would work. They are both about the same as far as temperment goes with JD's maybe being alittle more aggro but nothing like other CA/SA's (case by case of course)

Neither of those fish should hit 12 inches. You should be okay if they get along.

it should work i think, i had a juv jd and gt together and they were fine but they were both only around 2in so i guess you would just have to wait and see when they get bigger.
