Noticed my JD and Jag have been squaring off, he must of nipped him when I wasn't paying attention.

Jag has been hiding all day, JD must of got him too, but I still see him inside his cave.

Is the JD going to be alright?

Quick note, girlfriend said she noticed red on his head the other day. Could of been the salvini, which has since moved tanks. He's lost a lot of his colors. I would like to know what to do with him.

jd looks alright but hard to tell from the pic. if necessary add some melafix.

that said the Jag will eventually become much larger than the jd so eventually it will result in the death of your jd if they're squaring off.

I appreciate the tip about melafix, I might have to go get some tonight. I realize the jag gets bigger, I have heard this many, many times.

They've always been fine until I took the salvini out, strange fish. :screwy:

if there's been a change in the pecking order they my just be trying to figure out who's in charge now. which I would monitor. they may decide who's boss and leave it at that or they may decide it's worth a death fight over.

dunno what other tanks you have laying around but it seems like another 55g for the jd may become necessary if the fighting doesn't stop. typically on craigslist for 30-40$ then it's just filtration to figure out.

but again they may be ok after they decide the new pecking order. you just have to watch

Well, because the pecking order really was only the jag vs the JD. Seeing as the con has many places to hide, and the pleco is lazy.

I decided today to introduce a geo, and now even the geo is picking on the JD (probably seeing as he's weak.) I've been watching it and seperated it once. I don't have an extra 50gal, and they go for over $200 here (it's expensive here.)

I don't have room for another 50+ tank, so I'm hoping the jack makes it through the night until the geo is settled in and everything is fine.

Once that geo is settled in, I think everything should be fine.

I'm getting increasingly worried for my jack. He's constantly harassed and lost all of his black color. I don't have another tank I can put him in (Either with breeding Salv's or a fully stocked African tank.)

I have a 20g, but I don't have a proper heater for it currently so it'd be freezing water. I have nothing I can do for it.

My boyfriend asked me to post this as he's at work. For anyone that cares, we're setting up one of our extra hospital tanks we have for him as the fish continue to pick on the jack. She's going in a 20gal for a few weeks until she brightens up and fight back. To the above poster;

Id say it s time to either trade in or sell the JD if you cant properly care for him if the fish still fight.
Sorry

I must say that I found this fairly rude. We're trying our best to care for him, and we're willing to accommodate him.

I wasnt trying to be rude, You stated you can afford other tanks and dont have the room anyways, so what did you want me to say...Kee him and let him get beat up...i think not...the only other logical solution was to get rid of him or who ever was beating him up.
