I have a male JD that is exactly 7 inches long (i measured yesterday), and no other fish messes with him. Not even my Red Devil that is only an inch shorter. I have wanted to breed him for a long time and I have tried unsuccessfully 2 times. Both times involved a different female that he ended up beating up super bad. The second female that I tried has been moved to a different tank in my room and she is about fully recovered. Her body is all healed, and she has minimal fin damage. I just rearranged the tank yesterday and territories are still being established. I am going to add another pile of rocks with a cave so there is one more spot to defend for the fish. Would it be safe to add her back to the main tank and try one more time? I was thinking about taking the male and putting him in the 30 gallon alone for a couple days while the female plotted out "her land" and then adding him back once she has some dominance. Any thoughts or ideas?
