HOW YOUNG have any of you guys/(girls?) ever witnessed a JD spawn and make viable eggs(even if they were too young to raise them properly)?
I have three EBJD's and one female Blue Gene. The Blue Gene Female is only two and a half inches long, the male EB is probably like, three and a half inches long. He is the dominate male of the three, the others are a little smaller. I believe they are way too young to breed but they have already gone through the lip-locking phase, the cave cleaning phase and the rock scrubbing phase. They have even done a few "dry-runs" on the rock with no eggs coming out and not much in the way of ovipositors showing. They look like they WANT to breed but can't yet. I have no way of knowing their actual age and can only guess based on their size. They are in a 150 gallon with two 5" albino tinfoil barbs and a 5.5" female Thai-Silk Flowerhorn(super docile fish who won't even attempt to fight with any other cichlid even tiny ones.) There is also one Cory of a species that no one on Planet Catfish could identify with any certainty.
So, the original question: HOW YOUNG have any of you guys/(girls?) ever witnessed a JD spawn and make live eggs?
forgive me if I am hijacking this thread.
