My Jack is so shy it's embarrassing. He's 3-4" and I've had him for about seven months and all he does is hide in his cave. So what do you suggest for dithers?

sevenmonths?? and he still that small??? my dithers are a bunch of other baby cichlids.... do you hvae anything else in with him?? if hes that small you could use danios they work great as dither fish
I would go with danios as well, very fast so you don't have to worry about him eating them all at once.
Or just add some other cichlids into the tank. That will cause him to come out and defend his territory.
What have you been feeding him and how big of a tank is he in. In seven months, he sould be at least 8in if not more. My JD got close to 9in in six months.

if the jd is hiding by itself in a 10/20g tank, a tank upgrade is probably the first step. danios maybe?
