I have a Jack and a Tiger Oscar as tank mates. They get a long great. I feed them mostly pellets with occasional treats. Crickets, Meal worms, Krill, etc. I never feed them feeder fish not only for health reasons but I personally think it makes fish more aggressive toward each other. Now for my question. My Oscar eats first then goes to his spot and chews on his food. I only feed my JD a couple of pellets because anymore just falls out of its gills. It still looks extremely fat. I got it a few months ago at less than two inches and now it is pushing over six. My Oscar is a little over nine inches and a few months older. Tonight I bought some night crawlers for the Oscar. I fed it one and it chewed on it and spit it out and the jack grabbed it. The night crawler was as long as it is. I thought it would chew on it for a second then spit it out. No, it swallowed the whole thing. I have seen this fish fat before but now it looks like it is going to explode. Then the little hooligan stole one of the Oscars pellets. Now it is not getting any food for at least 24 hours. I have multiple tanks with strict healthy feeding schedules and all of the fish look healthy except the JD. I guess it looks healthy. It has beautiful blue markings and is active, but it has a gut. It is like a little camel with food. For the record it gets one large hikari gold pellet in the morning and one at night. One small treat every other day.
