JD fry

My JD pair laid eggs a few days ago, and they are just now hatching. I would like to move the fry to my 10 gallon because my 150 has a UGF and the fry get sucked underneath. (when I got the UGF never figured that my fish would breed) Anyway, is it too early to siphon them out and put into the 10 that I have set up? I've tried to wait a few days, but then all of the fry have been sucked under.

Also, when seperated, could I feed the fry crushed flakes until I have some baby brine shrimp ready for them? And how effective is boiled egg yolk as fry food? Any other food suggestions?

unplug the ug filter, is that the only filtration u have??? yes tiny pieces of flake is perfect....GL with them

i have 2 xp3s hooked up, one to the UGF.

Will the fry still fall through the gravel... I put medium sized 'river pebbles' to prevent digging. Heres a pict. of mom,dad and eggs to show the rock size.

those Jd's are gorgeous..They should still be able to move rocks that small....If they want to move it they will....U might have some casualties .....

Do you know how long it will take for them to become free swimming?

so should i put gauze on the intake filters now or when they become freeswimming?

in a day or so........ur gonna lose some no matter what..any other tank mates??

yea, this is the 150 in my sig. all of the fish are about the same size as the smaller JD. She's the one in charge of the tank and has half of it to herself.

I'm a little worried about the fry with the plec and bala shark though. the momma can't be everywhere and the male doesn't help at all.

ouch, there could be some potential death of tank mates if momma dont like people messing wit her babies..
