Hi all,

Have a quick question: Since I put my JD in time-out for 2 days for picking on my Oscar, she's now not eating. The water condition is ph 7.6 / ammonia nitrite 0 / nitrate 15ppm.

she'll just hangout between a driftwood and will chase the Oscar when he's near her. She don't swim around like she used to. I put in hikari bio-gold sinking pellets .. it'll hit her in the face and she'll swim away.

From what i notice is she'll scratch herself against a driftwood here and there, so i changed the water and added priflex - thought it might be a skin bacterial thing ~ still not eating or interested in food for 2 weeks now.

some one please help.

When you changed her from one environment to the next it may have stressed the fish causing it to not eat. The rubbing on the driftwood could possibly be caused by parasites. You may want to look into that more and consider treating for it if you determine that could be a problem.

thank you for the response,

i use a divider in the same tank ~ so moving her to a new environment is out of the question --> 125 Gal

i was wondering if there's any medication that i can use to help her eat???? is that even the right way of putting it?????

sorry .. not going to feed her live food. she's still haven't eaten anything for more than 3 weeks. I don't see any aggression from my oscar ~ there's no missing scales or ripped fins. i just ordered seachrem garlic - hoping it'll help with feeding ... any other suggestions please.

It is not uncommon for fish to go on hunger strikes. Monitor for external parasites and treat as needed I imagine she will eat when she gets hungry. You can up the temp a bit to get her metabolism going it may help.

thank you adixon ~ after upping the temp and soaking some freeze dry crickets in the garlic medication, she's eating again. but now she's only eating the crickets....urghhhhhh
