Other then colour what is the difference between a Jack Dempsey and an Electric Blue Jack Dempsey ???

I think it is something intestinal. I read somewhere on here that the have a different tract. Can't be certain as I have never owned one. I would say the EBJD look cooler though.

Well there's actually a lot of debate about the differences. Some people say that the EBJD is a natural occurrence that is created by a recessive gene, where others say that the EBJD is a hybrid.

Other than that, from what I know they tend to grow a bit slower than regular JDs and aren't quite as hardy.

Apparantly EBJD die easier.

IMO EBJD are better, mine is 5" and growing slowly

In my experience the electrics grow very slowly compared to the regular ones.

I've heard that EBJD's are sterile. You can't breed a M and F EBJD and have babies.

I've also heard that it's hard to keep them alive if you get them at 2'' or smaller... something about trying to get them to eat.

I like JD's better. JMO. I used to want a EBJD for the longest time until I seen a real JD in person, and I have been hooked ever since.

Ive had both JD and EBJD. I bought them at about the same size. When I first got them the EBJD would bully the JD, but after a couple months the JD grew faster and started to bully the EBJD.

I forgot to add that the JD looks amazing when it gets bigger.
