JD pair?

I just picked up these two from a friend.
He said they were quite aggressive. Is this
a female and a male

two females no question maybe you can find a male somewhere and have a pair from that.

I wouldnt say it is "no doubt" two females. The darker one in the background is for sure a female, however the one in the foreground may be a male. It does have some iridescent blue on the lower gill and jaw but it is not enough to say for sure if its a female. Id call it a male if i had to take a guess.

+1 i think a few more pics of that one on the left im sticking with female though.. the new female i just took in looks just like that one and is female

here is my male and i have seen others and they have almost no dotted beards, which is no dots below the mouth.

Males can sometimes have a little bit of blue dotting on the gill plate. One of my males has a whole array of blue dots there. The spangling on the body says male to me but to be sure, you should vent them.

ok fair enough the one way to tell is put a clay pot in the tank and see what happens lol
