So as it is right now my Dempsey is in a 20 long alone and i am wondering if i could put him in my 75 with everyone else. I know most fish have different personalities but just as an idea could i put him in with my 2 sens, delhezi, bowfin, and 2 angels? The JD is around 5 1/2'', bichirs range from 7 to 8'', bowfin is around 5 1/2'', and both angels are 4 1/2''.
I am worried that the Dempsey will kill the angels and or fight with the bowfin. The Dempsey was originally separated to the 20 gallon because i had to let my delhezi and bowfin grow.
This is probably just a dumb question but tell me what your opinion is. Keep him in the 20 till the others get bigger, or move him to the 75?

My 7in JD is as friendly as can be. Ive never seen my guy get aggressive except when another fish challenge his dominance. He definatly sicks up for him self and I would certainly trust him with angels.
IMO jacks have been made to sound more agro than they really are. They are usually quite skittish and shy and would rather avoid conflicts. But they are big mean-looking fish so if you do have one of the rouge agro JD's than definatly not with angles. Put him in and watch how they react to eachother, It should be fine. If not, then you know what you need to do.

Thanks for the opinion. They definitely do look aggressive with those teeth but Ive had him with other fish before with no problems. Ill give it a try tomorrow and watch to see what happens.

I agree, JD agression is over-rated . . . try it for a while, see how it goes

I have a similar, but opposite, problem. I had to move my 3" EBJD out of a 90G and into a 20G because he was unable to compete in the main tank. basically, this fish is totally incapable of fending for himself and was always the last to get any food . . . and sometimes he didn't get any . . . he spent most of his time hiding in one corner of the tank

now he is in the 20G, and while it is too small long-term, it's enough room for now . . . he's able to eat now, it's only a matter of time before he packs on another inch or two in size, and then I'll try the 90G again

in other words, we do what we can with what we've got . . . good luck
