i have a 5-6 inch jack dempsey and had him for about 7 months and all he eats is bloodworms and occasionally some feeders like once a month. any way for him to eat pellets? and will he/she grow much bigger just from bloodworms?

mine grew up from a baby around 2 inches to about 6 now in about 6 months. great coloring and i started it out with flakes and pellet but also feed it shrimp, krill, worms, baby convicts and corn. i keep a balanced diet and always offered a variety but your jd may be more picky about trying new foods. but if its hungry im sure hell try it

i have two JD's male and female i feed them blood worms 2 or 3 times a week, wardleys shrimp pellets, starting to feed them organic peas, mine tend to stay away from the surface so i have to feed them stuff that will sink to them...they absolutly love the shrimp pellets and the pellets are cheap :))

Stop offering it bloodworms and feeders and feed pellets exclusively. The JD when eventually learn to accept the pellets. But if you give in and return to your normal feeding, your fish will continue to only take bloodworms and feeders. Bloodworms offer very little nutritional value, so a diet based mainly on such food is not very healthy for your fish. As long as you don't give in, your JD will gladly eat the pellets offered in little time.
