He/she is very shy so I was finally able to get a god picture of it just before feeding time. But it's color is really beginning to show up. It is a little over a year old and about (that I have had it, I got it at about 2 inches) 6 or 7 inches. Is that normal growth rate because I know that they do grow on the slower side. I know there is no definite way of telling gender by looking at most fishes colors/fins/etc but I am just curious at some opinions on it (:

That is what I was thinking but I wanted to see what others said as well.
The other day I saw a huge JD at the LFS that someone has taken horrible care of. He was so beat up and had a fungus and was so rough looking. But he (they said it was male) was probably a good 13 inches or so. I have never seen one was so big before. I hope they are able to heal him up.

age of JD in pic?

Definitely a female! 100% positive. VERY NICE JD

Happily married Mommy of 3 babies, 2 fur babies and 15 gilled babies

my first thought also, but a juvi male can show close and expect a female to not have that much body color. why i asked age.

is a older female, i agree.
