Currently my JD is housed with a Golden Wonder, a Pleco, and a Rainbow Shark. The Shark is going to a new home as well as the common pleco. I was wondering if a few pictus would work as a take mates for the JD.

I would think so, I had one with my jd for a while. Never even came in contact with each other.

yeah i have several pictus in my cichlid tank and had a JD in with them until a couple months ago and never had any issues ( though i did have a problem when i tried adding another small pictus to the tank and some of them killed it but not sure which ones it was, but then I added another only slightly larger pictus to the tank and they didnt mess with it at all, so you will just have to try and see, but i never had any issue with grown pictus)

Well, I got three pictus last night. Turned the tank lights off so they would be more comfortable getting use to their new home, and everything was going well. Woke up this morning and Bruiser had killed all three of them. Each was over 3 inches long and he couldn't eat them, but i'm guessing he ambushed and then shook them to death... I guess he deserves his name. Back to the drawling board.

bummer . . . are you sure he killed them? no chance it was a problem with water? IME, pictus cats can be a bit sensitive to sudden changes . . .

No, they were all really roughed up, and he was finishing off the last one when i got up. tested the water to be sure and everything was normal. I did a 50% water change before adding them. It was a shock to me because he was fine with the rainbow shark (same size as the pictus) and the golden wonder (only 2 inches long). He was like a dog with toy shaking the last (and biggest) pictus.
