I recently got a JD for my 75 gallon tank and he hasn’t ate yet. Water parameters are good. How long do these guys usually take to get comfortable?

Can take a week or so. Would wait it out. Any tankmates? Tank has decor?

If the JD is healthy it should eat once it's acclimated to it's new environment. That could be a couple days or sometimes longer depending on age.

No tankmates plenty of hiding spots and caves, He’s about 1.5-2” right now. feeding tetracichlid cichlid flakes because all pellets are too big for him to eat right now. It looks like he’s trying to get the flakes but swims toward the food and either lets it float by or he eats it and spits it out

I did have a jewel with him for the first few days but moved it out of tank as it was being a big bully to the jd. so maybe that stressed the jd out and he’s still calming down

yeah, it will hide at that small size. It will need probably need dithers to convince it that flakes are food, give it 1 week.

I’ve got some dithers have 6 cherry barbs and 2 zebra danios but the tanks so big he’s at the bottom and I don’t think he knows they exist because they’re always swimming up top

Agree, it could take a few days to a week, but it should start eating.

Try a small sinking pellet. Maybe try NLS 1mm pellets. I like to offer multiple kinds of food because some fish just don't like certain foods.
