This may be a bit off topic here, but it does have to do with fish. A friend, now ex friend of mine, is mad at me bc I have more tanks and larger tanks than him. He has a 10 g and a 16 g, with gold fish and koi, and platy's.
I didn't get my tanks to make him jealous, I got them bc I wanted to for me...as a fish keeper, hobbyist, pet owners...and so on...whatever one wants to label it as. He feels entitled to have more tanks than me bc he said he has had fish longer than I have. So go buy a bigger tank! no one is stopping him. his words were "you just got fish, and now you have more tanks than me and more fish than me, I have wanted a bigger tank for like forever and here you come and just get whatever you want, it isn't fair".

Is it me? or is this just a tad bit ridiculous?

Then he was also mad about my gsp. They are brackish right now, but eventually will be in salt water when they are grown. (This is what i have read about gsp from numerous sources). So he was mad that I will have a salt water tank eventually, because he has wanted a salt water tank since forever, as he put it. This isn't about a competition, this is about providing the appropriate and required tank set up for the type of fish I have.
Sorry for the vent...but I had to release it.

It is ridiculous.. He probably feels you started later in the hobby than him and through your own drive have advanced further than him in a shorter amount of time so he doesn't feel as much of a fishkeeper anymore. Still stupid though.

It doesn't matter how much you want something, it matters how driven you are to obtain it.

There's about 100 tanks on this site that I'm jealous of, it's natural to want a bigger tank...I'm pretty sure even if I had the biggest tank I'd still want a bigger one. Actually coming out and whining about it is a bit ridiculous though.

tell him to grow up! if he's wanted this and that forever, tell him to get it. if he hasnt gotten it because he cant afford, tell him to get a 2nd job!

Yes, he has 2 koi's in there plus a big 6 inch gold fish and 4 platy's. I did give him my "2 cents" and tell him that he needs a bigger tank just for that purpose. He got angry. Then he went to say that my 20 gallon with 4 guppies, 4 neon tetras, and 2 zebra danios was too crowded. Each of them are barely an inch.

Exactly!

I mean how hard is it to get a used 55g at least? I dont think any fish should be kept in a 10g tank
