Not sure if it will extend out but it should look something like this when it's on the tank. If I did not have a cover for my tank I would jump on this deal. I'll Jerppyjerp answer this question.

Thanks for the picture bro...the legs can be adjusted. If they are at the very end they should add a few inches to the overall length. However...they can be slid in a bit to adjust to a smaller tank.
