I've had the pleasure of importing many shipments of wild Nicaraguan cichlids over the years. The variability witnessed in wild collected Amphilophus labiatus has never ceased to amaze me. Included in this thread are just a small percentage of individuals I've photographed from the vast numbers that have passed through my tanks. Hopefully some viewers of this thread still possess one or two of these beautiful beasts.
      Enjoy!

This photographic libray idea of yours is wonderful! Thanks for taking the time to spark interest and conversation. The variation in coloration of the many labiatus is incredible! Approximately how large were these fish (on average)? I wonder if the black/grey fades over time.

      Thanks Andrew.
The fish in photos were adults in mature coloration.

Haha! I've got several of those fish right now! Several others are living with friends!

      Great pics Jeff!

By the way, if anyone knows what happened to the 4th from the last please let me know. I used to know who had him, but I can't remember anymore...... I'd love to grab that fish!

A little before and after catalogue......... Interesting how some stay the same and some change completely.

I should have noted that all those labs were originally Rapps' fish!
