A fellow hobbyist in my area had a whole bunch of baby jelly bean parrots. He wanted to get rid of them so I took most of them (like 100). Most were food for my bigger fish but I wanted to let a couple grow up. How tough are these guys? what could I put them with?

They are as hardy, temperamental and prolific as the convicts. Just add water and they will simply breed right off the bat.:shakehead

I thought jellybean parrot's were the poor dyed ones.. but I see they are also a name for a BP/convict cross. Are the males not sterile as they are a hybrid? Just like the male BP?

I have a female BP who lays eggs all the time and wondered if one of the severums in my tank might pair with her one day.

No, jellybeans are unfortunately fertile. I said unfortunate because to be honest, I just never appreciated my experience with them where they wreaked havoc in my cichlid community tank putting it in disarray as they led their shoal of fry around. What turned out to be an excitement became a nightmare. Nevertheless, I am not keeping them anymore.
