Thanks to the wonderful job of jcpl I lost 24" silver are, 8"vatf, 5" ruby red spill pirhana, 16" ornate bicher, 15" endli, a few discus and too many plecos to count. I was wondering if any body else lost fish. Also yes I am buying a generator

Wow!! Sorry for your loss man. You should have been using a bicycle pump or something and pumping air into the tank and heating/boiling water on your stove and then adding it into your tank(s) when the temperature(s) dropped

No stove electric and had battery pumps but had more prized fish in tanks off battery inverter had to make sacrifices it was awful. Also no power for a week and I had to work and sleep couldn't keep up. Also a 5000 watt gas generator and a transfer switch is a cheap alternative.

Sorry for the big loss. That's why I bought a portable generator last month; installing a transfer switch this weekend. Good luck the next time.

I live in Nj and am havine a horrible year with power outages....first Hurricane Irene...then the freak October snowfall knocked it out for days....and then jsut our town lost it again for 1/2 a day. That transfer box and generator is the best investment ever. Especially since it can then run the brains to the furnace incase power is lost in the dead of winter also.
