Jewel Cichlid Minimum Tank Size?

Still learning about cichlids and was curious what a minimum tank size for one jewel cichlid would be? I have a spare 20 gallon and just wanted to research some options. Any info helps.

I have a pair in a 20g. They do ok, but it doesn't seem to be enough room for them to exist and breed. Once eggs are present, they don't get along all too well.

I think 20g would be a proper tank size for a single Jewel. As stated before may be too small for a pair unless they were very well bonded.

Would the tank be fine for 1 jewel cichlid and a bushynose pleco?

No. Some will say yes but this is a very small tank. Don't overcrowd it. I'd personal do a pair of black convicts over a single jewel.
