I have jewel cichlid in a 10 gallon tank. I have been having problems with high nitrite levels and recently the jewel cichlid has developed Black lines all over her body instead of the usual uniform tan/yellow that she had before. I wan to know I this is a natural coloration that develops with age or if this is some indication of nitrite poisoning.
I have been treating the nitrite levels for a few weeks now and thy come down considerably. Does if anyone know if this is natural or is it a sign of stress.
