Hi fellow mfkers i was wondering if it would be okay to keep jewels with uarus severums and keyholes. Some sites i read that they are aggressive so i was just wanting to hear from you guys with your experiences. I hope to see some pics i was looking into getting the blood red jewels

Its is okay, Jewels are tough and will hold their ground. They are also very fast. I think people just worry too much. I think you should worry more if Jewels are $50 per fish but they're not

I would argue that you shouldn't put any fish in a bad situation regardless of the price. A fish that is getting picked on is bad for the whole tank.

I would expect the Jewels are more aggressive than your other fish.

thanks and i agree with the price of the fish shouldn't matter. i wish they were a little less aggressive im just trying to find a cichlid that grows around six inches and has the same temperament as the fish in the tank.

Jewels are not aggressive we have them in with severums and there is no problem. If you want a fish a liitle bigger and nice color get some female nics.

If you're talking about bimaculatus Jewels I'd be very surprised if they didn't torment or flat out kill the keyhole cichlids. The others should be ok.

A H. guttatus would destroy a keyhole cichlid ... the others could probably fend a jewel off though.
