I have a 46 gallon bowfront (36 x 15 x 20), would that be suitable for a single adult's lifetime?

How are they with plants? I was thinking about only getting anubias barteri

I think you would be fine with the tank not sure on the plant.

mine are in a planted 90. I have never seen them show any interest towards my plants. I have anubias, javan ferns, crinum calamistratum, and hornwort

Depends on which species you have. Hemichromis Bimaculas gets to 6". The rest are smaller.
