I bought 2 jewel cichlids yesterday for nearly nothing. I noticed one of the cichlids has a swullen belly. Does anyone know what this could be?? Also if possible can someone tell me the sex of this cichlid. Currently I have the fish in a QT tank just in case its contagious... Help plz!

Not yet. How would I go about treatment tmsith Epson salt? And I need to get the salt from a pet store? Or is it regular Epson salt?

Yeah just get it from the supermarket, don't waste your money at the pet store. You can give it a bath in it, 1 tablespoon per gallon. Or I believe you can soak pellets right in it and then feed said pellets to the fish.

Thanks! I will be sure to do this today.

The image won't load at school, but internal ailments can often be sorted with epsom salts, one treatment put up here by RD. RD. Said in summary:

Mix 3 teaspoons of epsom salt in 500ml of water, soak food in this solution before feeding

Hope this helps :)

I'm honestly not to confident the fish is eating. Do you have a ratio for a salt bath? I think this method will do better in my situation.
