where my cichla are
ok.. i currently have 6 tanks up and running and a 240 sitting on the garage floor that doesn't have a stand or a filter yet..

i've got 9 pbass of various sizes growing up in 3 different tanks till they are big enough to go into the big tank with the bigest pbass. i've got an angelfish tank and what is going to be an african tank with synodontis catfish in it currently.

i keep noticing jewel cichlids, i know they are african but not lake cichlids. What i'm wondering is if i decide to get some which fish will they get along with best? the 3 inch tems? the 5 inch ocellaris? or will i need to set up another aquarium?

i know p bass are mean , but jewels are nasty buggars lol, id wait till your p bass are double the size if together, but a big nono with the oscars as they are pussy chicla

I don't think you want jewels in a community tank. They are fine by themselves but if they pair off in a tank with others, all hell will break loose.

From my experience mixing jewels with SA/CA cichlids is not a good idea, generally. The jewels usually start breeding and then start doing kamikaze lunges at the other fish in the tank.

When I removed the pair I had from my tank, the oscar immediately went after the fry...he never looked so happy.

set up another aquarium, no chance the jewlws will survive, when the peacocks get mabey 2-3" larger than them.

thanks everybody.. i think when the smaller ocellaris dudes move up to the big tank i'll get some jewels for the 50 gal. do ya think 3 or 4 would be ok? should i move Stupid shark (that's his name, i think he's an ID shark, but i'm not sure)?

His name is Stupid shark because he wouldn't get out of the net when i was buying my Temensis babies.. so he came home with me.. lol.

I think your catfish will be fine with the jewels as long as he's bigger. My jewels would only attack other cichlids.
