GOD's country Arcadia Fl. Chasing mollies
WIN_20180426_20_36_11_Pro.jpg I can catch 8/12 African Jewel Cichlids in a local creek in about 45 minutes by baiting this trap with dry cat food (not my pic, but the exact same fish)C54D6E6D-E119-4A29-8FA5-D42203BF79DE.jpg Pretty as they are, I have stocked my 29 G with, sail fin mollies, netted (they wont enter my trap) in the same creek.

If I give a cichlid a good cave, could it cohabitate with mollies, in peace? Like to add one but my big male molly is so beautiful (and hard to catch, too!) that I wont tolerate a fin nipper that I can literally catch 20 a day in no time (long as it takes to knock a couple beers, back anyhow)
A red cichlid, is in the creek. Will HE enter my trap? Heck no!
Could I corner him in a dip net? Of course not! Will a baby catfish enter my trap? Of course not, just mosquito fish and plain, old Cichlids.

My trap is made from a pretzel jar, the inverted funnels are 2 liter tops, hot glue gunned. I put a 2 pound dive weight in it.

I've found jewels to be pretty placid. Who knows about those feral ones though.
I may try one, if it does not play nice, it can have a trip to my 4 gallon "pond" outside.

In my 5 gallon, I had 2. Big one ate the entire tailfin off the smaller one. I felt bad and transported it back to the creek. I had a small, male sailfin that it left alone. Then I netted my 3 inch, mature male molly. The immature molly and the cichlid, went after him, to the stockade! (birdbath) along with a female molly. She dropped fry about 2 weeks ago, getting ready to bring them in the community 29G

I think the Cichlid, jumped out?
