I came home to find one of my jewels not swimming as well and both eyes are bugging out of the poor guys head. The water is fine ph ammonia nitrite and nitrates are all fine. I have never had this happen to a fish before.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

That to bad. I have lost 2 Huge 13-14" male Trimac Cichlids to pop eye. I bought some medication for it but it did nothing. I have heard that MelaFix or PimaFix will cure it but I have never tryed it for myself.

ok how bout some info its a 55 gallon I have 2 jewels two orange peacocks two yellow labs one severum two salosui one pleco.

(NH3/4) 0 ppm PH 7.8 (NO2) 0ppm (NO3) 10 ppm total hardness 250 ppm total alkalinity 80 ppm

The tanks been cycled for three months I feed the spirulina flakes twice a day no more then they can eat in 30 secs to a min.

No new fish entered I do a 10 % water change once a week and just did one now when I saw the sick fish.

He is real lethargic has bulged eyes and is not swimming well when he does swim. He also seems to bite at things that are not there.

melafix works good for that!
