hi guys so ive noted this behaviour probably round once every 2 weeks and wanted to see if anyone thought this could be the male bullying the female into mating like ive read. the female is usually pink in colour but during this short, courting/harrasement which ive read is him trying to get her in the mood, she turns bright red.

no the tank is not dirty or anything, its got some tannis i think from the driftwood, but most of that poor colour is from my camera as its set for underwater photography and doesnt like to do anything above water very well, takes awsome underwater shots though.

well its only happened 3 or 4 times since i got them 3 or 4 months ago and they were bought as an established breeding pair, so ive got no idea, just going off the fact that ive read that the male will induce breeding by harrasing the female, in which she will go bright red. my only guess is she has no where suitable to lay.

unfortunately living on the coast there really isnt any freshwater rivers to get any rocks from and all streams are to sketchy as they runnoff into the ocean and such a high chance of pollutants. hence no where to get rocks

just want someone with experience with these fish to confirm this rare occurance which is usually triggered by this time, me turning on the tank light early in the morning is just play bullying meant to induce the female into laying? its doesnt worry me as the rest of the time they are a docile as golden retrievers XD sry wierd ase comparison but yeah.

it could be, mine do that all the time, but then again they could just be fighting.
