Hello everybody,
We would like to introduce ourselves at the Monsterfishkeepers-forum.
Saakje is a girl with te respectable age of 27 (blond and hot, sorry did i type that or did i think that?). I'm a guy with the age of 31. We live in The Netherlands. You've already noticed that Saakje is my girlfriend.
We are lovers of big tankfish and the proud owners of two Silver Arowana's. Our Arowana's are not very big (2 inches). They are still baby's
In the near future we are planning to have a 1.000ltr. tank. That will be the future home of the Arowana baby's.
Also Jos is a member of our fish-family. He is a Common Pleco and entering the 8 inches category. He is a very shy fish because he always lived in a humble accomodation.
At our home we have the following tanks;
- 400 ltr. Amazone (with Jos and the Arowana's)
- 200 ltr. Asia
- 60 ltr. quarantaine
In the Netherlands it's very easy to buy juvenile fish that become true monsters. At most petstore's you recently can buy fish like the Giant Snakehead, Arowana, Stingray's, Oscars an Pleco's. But only the most fishowners in The Netherlands have a tank not larger than 300ltr and not realising that fish grow! So that will become a problem in the near future. Everybody who's interested in big tankfish come to The Netherlands within 2 years!
With farious local organisations we are trying to get a solution for this problem. It's not unlikely that there will come a sort of forster-home for these fish.
That is also the reason, next to our own interest, that we became member at Monsterfishkeepers. We hope to get more information about the keeping of monsterfish.
Greetz,
Jouke, and also Saakje
