my son is setting up a 40 gallon(wide) saltwater tank with live rock, what types of fish and corals should we stock it with? this is gonna be our first saltwater aquarium, thanks for the input

do clown fish and there r tons of other choices

there are plenty. you can go clownfish. you can get chromis, anthias, dwarf angelfishes (love flame angels, although they are 50/50 on reef safe.) gobies, blennies, some wrasses, squirelfish. the corals you get depends on what light you have.

I don't suggest a snowflake he needs atleast a 55gal for that.

And I suggest the coralife lunar. So you can have lights for night and day on the tank. You just hit a switch and it gives you moon lights and your regualr lights.
