"Juicing Africans"

I suspect a LFS is "juicing" their small haps. I purchased 3 dimidiochromis compressiceps about 6 months ago and the store owner said they were males. They all looked great. They were 3' at the time. They are now 6'-7' and all female as the anal fins are round and they have no color. He's obviously using a some type of male hormone to color them up when their young which is good for his sales....bad for me and other consumers. I live in the O.C. California area. Does anyone know where I can get some of these fish, (males). Thanks!

It may not be him doing it. If he gets the fish from Asia then it would be a good indicator that they are hormoned. Hormoning fish can cause permanent damage which is tottally not cool if they are just trying to sell more juveniles. You should make the place aware and spread the word.

Thanks MalawiTango. I hear you. In your opinion, do you think the three females I have are sterile? Or will time be the answer when I find a suitable male or two?
