i have two of these guys and they have breed in the past, once. i didn't know it but one day hey a little guy. he was about a 1/8 inch long. should i move the pair to a 20 gallon by themselves, and if i do what about the slate they call home. you'll see in the pic of the tank it's a tower of slate right in the middle of the tank all the way to the top.

When julies pair off they will breed like rabbits. However, it takes them some time to form the pair and once they do you do not want to make any changes to the rockwork or remove them as that could confuse them and break the pair

thats what i thought. i did move the rockwork but they have paired back up i think. they have taken up they're spot in the rocks again. do i need to worry about the other fish eating the fry? there is a female convict cichlid in there.

As long as you provide plenty of little hiding spot for the fry you should be fine. Of course, a few of them will probably be eaten, but that will not comapre to the amounts of fry that you will have once that pair gets goings. If you want to keep all of the fry, take the other fish out. Fish are opportunistic feeders. They will eat what they can.
