Long story short, I forgot to cover a container and my new fish jumped. I put what I thought what his dusty corpse back into the container for lack of a better place at the time, and I turn around to see him breathing.

He's swimming funnily now, and breathing quickly, but semi-responsive. What should I do with him? He's quite alive right now, but for lack of a better term seems brain damaged.

just keep an eye on it for any kind of infection from injuries, by the way what kind of fish was it

as my darling fiance says, watch for injuries, missing scales and such. I had a balloon molly once try to leap out and bump his head he seemed "normal" after but he had bleeding under his skin it was weird. After 2 weeks he started acting strange so becareful for symptoms in the future too.Good luck!

I believe it was called a sunburst peacock. Its got beautiful orange blotches on pale colors.

experience.i ordered some fish and when they came the water came out of the bags.the fish were just in the bags"dead" i swear they didn't move or anything so we took pics to send to the guy and when we went to throw them away one of them was barely breathing, so i put him in the tank and checked the others real close they were the same way! so i put them in the tank, added stress coat and a another bubble stone. it's been 2 weeks now and they're all doing good.they lost some color and have a few indents on them, but otherwise good.after a couple days i added melafix and it looked like they were shedding.i think it was the dried slime on them.

Wow! That's really amazing. I'm really glad that they ended up ok for you Thank you for your advice.

Were yours acting a bit brain damaged as well when you got them into water?
