Any body have any fish that jump clear out out the tank at feeding time? I have a small Chocolate cichlid 3.5" (Hypselecara temporalis) that clears the tank and tries to take the food out of my hand every time I lift the lid to feed him. He sometimes hits his head on the edge of the tank and has small scrapes on his head from it. I've owned pelanty of fish that get excited at feeding time and many that jump up but this guy clears the tank every time to the point I worry he's going to come out of the tank, so I have to go from one end to the other trying to fake him out....lol.

I've had a few through the years that jumped out of the tank to get food. One of my Oscars hit the floor three times trying to out compete others. I'd chuck him back in and and he would just keep eating.

not now. but had a female betta that regularly jumped clear out of the bowl at me. I picked her up off the floor several times, and -knowing her habit- managed to catch her in my cupped hands once.

My Oscar used to jump up at feeding time. Sometimes stay pieces of food will end up on the glass hood and I will start hearing these thud sounds of my Parrots trying to get the food on the other side of the glass.

Haha. I have several!

Chocolates are among the most imposing fish, once fully matured ( males obviously )
