  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
they are jumpers but not as extreme as aros..

Yes they can jump, but they are excellent escape artists, ensure any little gap is covered or blocked, they will escape, ive had three escape and die,

Yes they are!
So be sure to cover up the surface of the tank well!

Thanks for all the replies.. :)
Does a snakehead get jumpy when it reaches a certain size?
The reason I asked is because the micro that I kept last time never jumped even when it reach 2 feet.. only when I was trying to net it out, that's the only time I seen it jump.. & I don't even cover my tank..

Hi
Channa arent silly, but they are curious and hungry. Mine jump (especially the youngsters) when I open the lids to feed them, everyone whants to be the first.

Another reason for jumping is when they are bullied by others and whant to flee the dangerous area.
Bad water condition and unsuitable decoratetd tanks are more reasonsfor jumping.

And some do it just beacus they like id. I have ALL my tanks covered with thick enough glass lids or normal tank-lighting-tops. All holes are taped with extra strong tape.
Keeping channa ion uncovered tanks is like free solo climbing. It can work for years, but in the badest moment (when you are not there) the fish jump (and the solo climber falls)
