Jumpers?

yeah make sure u have a good tank lid and make sure there no small space for them to jump out of....
 
I have had african cichlids jump through a gap less than 1 inch , in between a HOB output and the lid. On my newer tanks, I cut the openings closer to the filter ( 1/4") and haven't had any more escapes.
 
I've used duct tape to cover small gaps in tanks housing small eels..which as you know are master escape artists
 
With my current tank I have very tight fitting lids that dont allow for any gaps, and I use canister filters with very little room around the tubes.

In the past my jumper issues were usually on tanks with lids but also with HOB type filters. It just left too much unsecured area for fish to get out.
