Is there anyone with an arowana that encourages them to jump for their food? and have a soft flexible cover to cover the tank while not feeding such as a netted top?

I have a net over my tank and I have had my arowana jump to get food from my hand, but it was completely unintentional on my part. I wouldn't recommend teaching a jumping habit though, I fear that could lead to bad consequences, even with a net over the tank.

when my guy was little I would set up fake plants above the water and I would put crickets on them to feed him. It was cool watching him jump out and get the crickets off the leafs. I stopped this when he got about 12". Now he gets fed silver slides, tilapia and krill...he is currently 22". he jumps when I first drop the food in, out of excitement to get the food first before my other fish, but I dont feed him "outside the water" like I use too. I cut that habit when he was young.

That is super cool. I would provide mine with insects that would prompt him to jump. At times, he will jumpor grab it first the split sec it hits the water. Its always a joy watching the jumps. I don't entertain this any more either.

its a great idea to get them jumping if one morning you want to come and find your aro on the floor

if i had a big pond or secured river i would try hard to encourage my aro to jump for food, since i have tiny tank inside a ceramic tile house floor i try it to keep in my tank :)
