Hello,

M red hooks run for cover most time when anyone approaches the tank. They are some of the largest fish in the aquarium and are eating noramlly nor are they bullied. I am aware that now that they are getting big, I have tried to balance the amount of decor so that they are happy but also have suffecient space to swim.

I have attached a full length shot of my aquarium that I hope will help. The aquarium is rectangular but my panorama shot has not come out right.

I have 3 red hooks (~3-4 inches long) in my 30 gal. tank and I must be lucky, cuz when I walk up to the tank, they come to see me immediately (feeding time on their brains). They do jump however when something is placed on the countertop where the aquarium is set up on. You can try to lightly step up towards the tank to see if it is your footsteps causing them to be jumpy. Dunno what you can do if thats the case, but vibration might be the cause.

I wonder if anybody has ever thought of making the front and sides of a tank out of 1 way mirrors. So you can see the fish, but the fish can only see themselves. Might drive the fish crazy...

My tinfoils are jumpy too and they make the other fish jumpy. When I walk up to the tank (except when it is feeding time, they know because I shut off the filters) they dart back causing other fish to dart. Maybe one of your fish is jumpy and making the other ones jumpy...or that can be the personality of your fish.
