Hey peeps still new to the hobby just have a quick question. I have two Oscars about 6" in my 125 gal tank along with 2 JD's about 3". 2 texas Cichlid's about 2" and a fire mouth about 2"and three pleco's. One of the oscars has hole in the head real bad . The other has a few little pits but not as bad as the other. My question is will the meds that i just put in the tank hurt my other fish? Why i didn't think to ask before i put in the tank is beyond me. Also is there any thing else that i can do to get rid of the pits on them? O by the way i pulled all the carbon out of my canister's before treating as directed.
thanks

while Oscars are prone to HITH, it can also be over-diagnosed . . . could you post some pix so that some of the oscar experts could comment?

if it is HITH, the first thing to look at is usually water quality, e.g., keeping your water clean and your nitrates low, etc. . . do you know your current parameters?

oh, and if at some point you are convinced the oscar needs medical treatment, do you have a suitable quarantine tank? that way you won't have to worry about the impact on your unaffected fish . . .

yes i do i just checked them before i did a water change tonight nitrate 20 ppm nitrite 0 ppm amm. 0 ppm ph 8.0 I will post pic tomorrow after work sry
o by the way those reaading are before water change i do one once a week nitrate never goes over 40 ppm but it hasn't done that in a month or so just when i first set it up usally stays at 20 ppm
