hey

just wandering if people have ever tried this mix before? as i am hoping to mix these 2 species together in the next couple of months.
are red scats ba$tard$ to other fish? cause i heard this from a mate, and then i asked another mate and he said they are fine with other fish?
what do you recon?

I wouldn't do it, simply for the fact the scats will do better in brackish water while the JP need very clean fresh, preferably with a decent current. Where are you getting said JP if you don't mind me asking?

Fair nuff. JP's are more impressive in a group btw. Single specimens are still very active tho'. Best bet is buy a few, chances are there won't be any for a while after the easter batch and you can always sell what you dont end up needing.

scats can be nasty lil sobs...

Scats can do VERY well in full fresh water. My missus has a a scat going on 7 years in full fresh. But like already stated can be very nasty. They don"t like tank mates. Even a fully grown barred grunter couldn't hold his own against it.

hmmmmm, well say if i did get the scats, 2 of them with 3 other jungle perch and 2 bullrouts and 1 tandan cat, it might get a bit crowded, as they will be going up in a 4x2x2 until they get big and then into something like a 180 gal, without the catfish.

So i got alot of thinking to do, see i really want a sort of community native tank, but since im gonna have the jungles and bullrouts theres not much els i could put in there, i was deciding on a coal grunter? what do you think of that, i have been told it wont mix well but i would rather more opinions, im just thinking of a cool little fish that just hangs and looks cool, and plus i have wanted one for a while!
